Electric Avenue

The Eighties

As Eddy Grant once said, “Oh we gonna rock down to Electric Avenue, and then we’ll take it higher”.

Well quite, I think he’s absolutely hit the nail on the head there, so lets head down to the Electric Avenue slot from All41 Studios and Microgaming and see what it’s all about.

The Eighties of course!

The Graphics

This game will get you right in the mood! It looks like we are in Miami, and it certainly sounds like it with that funky electro pop soundtrack. There are 80s shades, Converse boots, beat boxes and ripped jeans everywhere. The only thing I can’t see is Sonny and Tubbs from Miami Vice, so they must be on a case somewhere. This game is brighter than the Coins of Fortune slot and that’s not an easy target to hit.

Look out for cans of fizzy drinks, sunglasses, a Rubik’s cube and a Polaroid camera. The high payer in the base game is the ghetto blaster which will net you 25 x your bet if you land 6.

The Play

This is a 6 reeler, just like the Warrior Graveyard XNudge slot, but this is a 4 row game with 4096 Ways to Win. You can potentially win up to 6800x your bet on this game. It’s pretty highly volatile!

If you like Kim Wilde, or any kind of wild, you will like the Electric Avenue slot as there are four of them and each will show up from time to time on its own reel (reels 2,3,4 & 5). Keep an eye out for the cheerleader (number 80), the Walkman chap with the cheap sunglasses, the disco girl and the skater.

These Wild chaps and chapesses turn their whole reel wild with up to a 9x multiplier in the base game. The Wild Reels feature these multipliers at random depending on which reel they are on: 2X on reel 2, 3X on reel 3, 4X on reel 4 and 5X on reel 5. You get the picture.

When more than one of the Wild Reels land simultaneously, up to 2 can feature the fixed Wild Reel multipliers. That´s how you can get up to 9x (reels 4 and 5 in that case). The whole game is fizzing with energy, rather like the Hyper Strike slot I would say.

Free Spins
Look out for Doc as you slip into the free spins game with 3 or more DeLorean symbols. I prefer the Aston Martin V8 Vantage from a similar era, but I can’t deny the the DeLorean is a head turner. I’ll happily take 3 for the free spins.

Once you are into the free spins round, you will need to choose between 2 options:
– 7 Electric Free Spins with Sticky Power Wilds. You will kick off with 7 spins: watch out for the Power Wild. A symbol is picked at random to become the Power Wild on reels 2, 3, 4, 5. The Power Wild is sticky and freezes in place until the end of the free spins. When the whole reel is maxed out with Power Wilds, you get an extra 3 free spins. Super!
OR
– 10 Neon Free Spins with Wild Wheel Multiples up to 55x. The action begins with ten spins: watch out for the Wild Wheel that has up to a 55X win multiplier on the middle 4 reels (2, 3, 4, 5). When making up a win, the Wild Wheel triggers a win multiplier at random from 11X, 22X, 33X, 44X or 55X. Generally, the Wild Wheel lands on screen every 2 spins. If you land 3 or more Scatters you get 10 free spins.

Both the features are pretty dandy, give both of them a go if you can. I quite like the Neon spins as you can re-trigger free spins from within the bonus on this sub feature.

Monkey Verdict

Get back to the eighties! I enjoyed this game, but then I am something of an eighties primate. It’s bold, brash, colourful and fun, just like the decade it is themed on, with just the right amount of features to keep you entertained without being overly complicated.
