The Graphics

NextGen Gaming have a reputation for producing slots that can look a bit, well, underwhelming if I’m honest – but the Cleo’s Wish slot is the exception! Well, maybe that’s unfair, as the Dolphin Gold Stellar Jackpots slot is a bit of a looker, but I digress.

The reels are set against a background of pyramids, and we find ourselves in the company of Queen Cleopatra, or Cleo as NextGen are insisting we call her. The rather buxom royal is to the left of the reels overlooking both your play and her mighty empire. I approve.

It’s also worth noting that Cleopatra is much less, er, formal as a monarch than history would have us believe – my word, she’s even donning a crop top! I think that given that Caesar is a famous ape’s name, I am hoping she’ll warm to me.

You’ll also find some rather unusual background sounds to keep you company as you spin- they are a bit on the muzak side of things, but you can switch them off if you’re allergic to lift music. However, set off one of the Bonus Features and the ditty transforms into a classy Big Band tune, which is of course, much more my thing.

Cleo’s Wish Slot Game Play

Travel back through time and meet the Pharaohs in this slot with 3 rows, 5 reels and 25 pay-lines. That would be 5 more than the Inca’s Treasure slot my friends, which should give you an idea of how this plays.
The blue game logo is the most valuable icon in the game, with 5x of these on an active pay-line gifting you 500 coins.

The rest of the symbols are a smorgasbord of first-rate artefacts, including a gold and emerald Scarab beetle, Cleo’s golden arm cuff, and a bejewelled ankh cross – the ancient symbol of life.
Ace through 9 of the card deck make up the lower value symbols on the reels and these are suitably styled up in Ancient Egyptian.

Meanwhile, the Wild is the bright-eyed Cleo, and this icon substitutes for all the other icons, except the Scatter, which is a majestic pyramid. You will only see said Scatter on reels 1, 3 and 5.

The Bonuses

Base Game Bonanza
There are 3 different bonus features that you can trigger at random in the base game.

Sands of Fortune will transform all the high-value icons into one matching icon to significantly boost your winning chances.

Keep your eyes peeled for the Add Wilds Reels feature where you will benefit from extra Wilds being brought into the game.

And my stand out favourite bonus is the Guaranteed Wild Reels. This is where Cleo really shows off her regal generosity! Here you gain a spin with up to 5 of the reels turning completely Wild. Thank you very much, Queen Cleo.

Free Spins
Land 3x Scatters on reels 1, 3 and 5 and you will unlock the Free Spins feature. Now you will now have the choice of 2 side games – pick between two cards to reveal which dusty route you will take.

Cleo’s Parade launches an unlimited number of free spins. The initial spin makes the whole of the 5th reel become fully stacked with Wilds. As the spins progress, so this reel of Stacked Wilds literally “parades” travelling left on each spin. And if the Egyptian Slot Gods are blessing your endeavours, you may land 3 Scatters on the last reel, generating another reel of Stacked Wilds. These will travel until they fall off the reel set, and the feature ends when there are no more Wilds left.

Alternatively, you could choose Eternal Riches. This is a 2-stage bonus game where you are gifted between 5x and 10x free games. If you land Wilds these are totted up to give you points towards the Super Spins Win Multiplier – which comes into its own in the second part of this feature. Each Wild can give you up to x3, but there is an upper limit of x 20 multiplier.

The Monkey Summary

Cleo’s Wish slot is almost overloaded with extras.  My favourite is the Guaranteed Wild Reels where all the reels can turn entirely Wild –  it´s an entertainment overload!

This slot is a medium variance game with plenty of wins to deliver. And if you´re lucky the Queen’s stately progress in Cleo’s Parade could make for some chunky wins thanks to those stacked Wilds.

All in all, a classy addition to the ancient Egyptian genre.
